Financial Management Subcommittee
Chair: Todd Krasnow
Chaired by an entrepreneur who helped start a number of locally-based businesses, was part of the founding management at Staples and who is with Highland Capital, a venture capital firm based in Lexington, MA, the Financial Management Subcommittee is currently in the process of developing specific proposals to generate additional revenue and control costs without negatively impacting municipal services or the quality of life in Newton.
Ideas being explored include those recommended in the Finance & Management Working Group Report (i.e. increasing energy efficiency of City buildings, developing a PILOT program for the City, and expanding municipal recycling), as well as encouraging environmentally-sustainable development to generate new tax revenue and exploring cost savings associated with the elimination of redundancy and inefficiency.
If you have ideas for addressing Newton's financial crisis, please join the subcommittee by clicking here and typing "Financial Management Subcommittee" in the notes field.
